Southern Indiana has shown it can win on the road with victories at places like Valparaiso, Tennessee Tech, Western Illinois and Eastern Illinois, but those bright spots are swamped by a long string of damaging losses to stronger nonconference opposition and several heavy defeats away at Butler, Western Michigan, Southeast Missouri State and Indiana State along with ugly neutral-site setbacks to Incarnate Word and Illinois Chicago, so with so few resume-building wins the only realistic path to the NCAA field is to capture the Ohio Valley automatic berth and the remaining road dates at Morehead State and Arkansas Little Rock are its last practical chances to alter that narrative.
